Compatible with Photoshop 7.0 or higher

You must have a pressure-sensitive tablet to use these brushes

High-caliber weaponry inside:

Here is a set of tool presets that I've created, tweaked, and used on actual work over the last couple of years. These brushes are among the best at what they do.

Included in this arsenal are:

  • 2 types of color brushes

  • 2 types of color pencils

  • 3 drawing pencils with different lead types

  • A fine-linework pen

  • A dry marker that can change wetness

  • 2 types of shading brushes

  • 3 types of shading pencils

  • The ultimate sketch pencil

  • A watercolor brush

  • And 4 types of erasers!

These brushes, especially the pencil tips, DO NOT get blurry when used at large sizes. They are 300dpi native, but can be used at any resolution.

You will suffer no change in behavior if you grow or shrink your brush size on the fly.

They were built for that behavior. :XD:

How to install:

  1. Download the Sketch Arsenal to a folder on your computer

  2. Open Photoshop

  3. Go to Window -> Tool Presets

  4. Click the dropdown menu in the upper-right of the Tool Presets palette

  5. Select "Load Tool Presets..."

  6. Find the folder with the Sketch Arsenal inside and load it

  7. Click and turn on the "Current Tool Only" checkbox in the bottom-left of the Tool Presets Palette

  8. Select the brush tool, then a tool preset, and start drawing!

How to remove:

Simply click the dropdown menu in the upper-right of the Tool Presets palette and select "Reset Tool Presets..."

Sample work:

All pieces below are 100% digital and created with presets from the Sketch Arsenal

Hope you have fun and push this arsenal to its limits! Check back for updates. :XD:

I love the brushes, but for some reason when I have multiple entries for each type of brush... I'm not sure how that happened... is it safe to just delete the extra copies?

Hello thatLD I cannot find the correct download button, or if I do it reloads the page. Any ideas? Thanks!

Yeah. I'm not sure why it's doing that now. Seems like all the changes that dA is going through has altered the behavior of external links in the artist's comments.

The download button on the right side of the page still works, though.

Were you able to download the Sketch Arsenal through that?

Hm. That's strange. My external link in the artist's comments doesn't work anymore.

The download button on the right side of the page still works, though.

It's been a while since you left this comment, have you been able to download them since then?

it won't work in my PS cs5. It says not compatible with my photoshop version. :[ Any way to fix this? Will this work with cs6?

It ought to work on any version of Photoshop that is newer than 6.0.

I'm talking Photoshop 6.0 from 15 years ago. Haha :D

You'll have to keep in mind that these aren't brushes. They're tool presets. They have their own way to be loaded into the program.

Have you been able to get them working? It's been a bit of time since you left this comment.

Are you trying to import and use it as a Brush file (.abr) and not a Tool Preset (.tpl)?

This is definitely a tool preset and was created in CS3 Extended.

Instructions on how to install are right in the Artist's Comments. If that doesn't work then let me know.

This is long overdue, but these are hands-down my favorite tools in Photoshop. I can't function without the marker or the blue line pencil.

I want to recommend these to the lead artist on a indie video game team I'm part of, but I want to check first: do you have any restrictions for commercial use? Obviously we'd list you in the credits, but is there anything else?

Definitely. Go for it! You're free to use it as you please. All I ask for is credit and you are already making room to cover that.

Really glad to hear that the Arsenal has been a staple tool for you . I made it to be shared and the greatest reward is just hearing how other artists like yourself are using them.

Thanks for coming back and telling me.

I know for a fact that they work for the full version of Photoshop.

Elements doesn't have tool presets so the Sketch Arsenal won't work there.

As a workaround you can use my essential brush set. Just download it and it should load in Photoshop Elements just fine. It has the core brushes from the Sketch Arsenal inside:

[ LD's_Essentials.abr ]

Hope that helps.
