75-frame clip

Keyframes by::iconjeffreylai: :iconthatld:

This is a Work In Progress shot from the teaser animation for the 1000 Animated Micro-series Kickstarter.

My role in this shot was direction, correction, cleanup, inking, color, composite, and fx rendering.

Drawing each and every one of those bills falling to the floor kicked my tail!
Looking at the shot now I see a stray bill that goes behind the purple guy on the left and then magically appears in front of him. Glad there was time to fix that. :D

As far as progress on the Kickstarter is concerned. We're almost 50% funded with just less than a week to go.

It's not too late to make it. We can still make it happen if the word gets out. More of this sort of animation can be a reality (in even better quality) if we're funded.

Spread the word! If not then it'll be a loooooooong while before an opportunity like this one pops up again (think 2 to 4 years). Please pledge if you can. Even a single dollar makes a difference. It really does.

More animation from 1000:

NOTE: This was done in Photoshop & After Effects.

There does seem there is a bill corner sticking out of the back of "Knife Whip guy" at the very end, and a few other random stuff. However I only caught that since I watched this scene a few dozen times. Awesome job as usual. :D:D:D

Haha. That money does some strange things if you look at it enough times. :D

Thanks! Glad to hear the shot held up after a little inspection. All kinds of things come out when looping comes into play.

Thanks for the share, man. I don't know what's going on but we got quite a bump in pledges over that past few hours. :D

If it keeps up then we'll be in good shape for the final 48-hour push. Thanks again for keeping up with what we're doing, Chad. Nice to see you pop in every now and then.

No problem. How long have you been an animator. And did you go to college?

Officially since 2009. Not that long.

On my own I started drawing in flipbooks when I was 12 and practiced from there. I did go to college for animation, but ended up knowing more than I was actually taught there.

I see you're really interested in going down the Path of Animation. Keep pushing, man! All it takes is patience and the ability to fix your mistakes.

Thats really cool.

Yes, I've been doing digital animations stuff for a few years now, trying to develope finer lines, fluid motion etc. But I'm curious to whether or not Secret Sauce is a company you established?

I mean its one thing to graduate college, but its a whole nother' story to go find a job. I guess I'd say I'm curious. I feel its difficult to find places that hire through animation in my own research. Any advice in terms of that?

Yes. Secret Sauce was founded with this single project in mind and the goal of making quality action animation. We haven't even existed in an official capacity for a year yet, but all the members have been working before then.

Thankfully we live in a time where it's easier than ever to make animation that people can watch and share. The trick is getting it made.

You'll be far ahead of your peers simply by pulling together a completed animation and building a history of work from that point. You'll slowly accumulate an audience who'll stick with you if you're dedicated enough.

Finding work is much easier if you just roll up your sleeves and make your own work. Don't wait to get picked. Pick yourself.

I never would have met anyone from Secret Sauce if I hadn't taken the time to animate on my own and stick with it. It's far from easy, but it's worth it.

Did you know the people that work for Secret Sauce, or did you meet them through the web. Animators seem to be scattered.

I really appreciate you're help. In that case I'll continue to draw and animate. my own stuff as usual then. Thanks for you're time, I'll keep animating. I look forward to you're future works. :)

I met the first member, ~greenestreet right here on dA. Then we scheduled a meeting IRL. The rest of the team I know only through online interaction via Skype.

Yeah, keep it up, man!
